Is Bigger Always Better?  The case for a small footprint head-only MRI system.

MRI scanners have traditionally been general purpose devices following two main guidelines: make the bore as big as possible and make the magnetic field as strong as possible.  At Synaptive we took a different approach by making a very short system with a low magnetic field designed specifically for brain imaging. In this talk I’ll discuss the advantages of this approach, opportunities for dedicated brain imaging systems, and the value in (returning to) 0.5 Tesla.
