Deep learning for neuroimage segmentation
Dr. Maged Goubran is an early career Scientist in the Physical Sciences Platform and Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program at Sunnybrook Research Institute, and Assistant Professor of Medical Biophysics at University of Toronto. His expertise is in computational neuroscience and Artificial intelligence (AI). He completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering with a specialization in Medical Imaging at Western University. He then went on to pursue postdoctoral training at the Department of Radiology and the Neuroscience Program at Stanford University. Dr. Goubran’s work focuses on the development of novel AI and computational tools to predict and understand neuronal & vascular circuit alterations, and model brain pathology in neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. Dr. Goubran has made significant contributions to the fields of AI and computational neuroscience, authoring > 50 articles published in high-impact journals including Nature Communications, Alzheimer’s & Dementia, Molecular Psychiatry, Annals of Neurology & Medical Image Analysis. Since 2019, his lab (https://aiconslab.github.io/) has been funded by international and national institutes, including CIHR, NSERC and the Alzheimer’s society. Dr. Goubran received several awards/honors from institutes including NSERC, CIHR, SfN, ISMRM, and Government of Canada.
