Interested in becoming a part of VAST?

The following defines the different types of VASTees. VAST content and online learning is open access and freely available to all.

Definitions:

VAST Co-Investigator: co-investigator on grant application for the VAST HRTP - membership is not open.

  • Co-investigators are eligible supervisors for those applying for stipend scholarship awards

  • Co-investigators accepting funding for their trainees must agree to participate in a VAST review committee and complete a VAST learning module

VAST Mentor:

  • VAST mentors may contribute to VAST curriculum, provide input in the development of the platform, and mentor students in a non-supervisory role

  • VAST mentors have access to priority training and collaborative opportunities for themselves and their trainees

  • We especially encourage early career researchers to become VAST mentors

VAST Scholar: trainees who are receiving or have received stipend support from VAST

  • VAST scholars have access to priority training, collaborative opportunities, and travel funding

  • Trainees can become VAST scholars by applying for and being awarded trainee funding

VAST Trainee:

  • VAST trainees are registered as members of VAST and includes those registered in undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate programs, as well as research staff

  • VAST trainees working under VAST co-investigators and VAST mentors are given priority for training, collaborative opportunities, and travel funding (after VAST scholars)

VAST Network Member:

  • VAST network members are signed up to receive monthly newsletters and if indicated (via event sign-up or email), regular updates from VAST

  • Network members have access to online learning content available on RISE, VAST seminars, and when space is available, VAST skills workshops

  • Sign up to receive the monthly VAST newsletter below

VAST Partner:

  • For-profit or non-profit organizations may contribute to VAST as a partner

  • Contributions could be in the form of online learning content, mentorship, collaborative projects, or sponsorship

  • VAST partners are highlighted on our website and to VAST trainees
